New Volunteer Opportunities in Haiti

People interested in working with a nonprofit to help Haitians to revive their communities and to build a brighter future is a new volunteer opportunity. For example, volunteers and donations nonprofit seeking to build a solar-powered center for Internet access and use and learning satellite computer. The nonprofit is a registered charity called LIFT Haiti. The "UPLIFT" the initials stand for "People from union to learn, inspire and shape Together." There are many opportunities for donors with charitable volunteering their time and
skills. Many volunteers provide invaluable services, lifeline. But Haiti needs volunteers to lift the construction capabilities within Haitian communities over the long term. The new organization is now accepting applications for volunteers on future projects. Its founders are a group of Haitian-Americans and other Americans based in Maryland. The group 's advisory committee is primarily the Haitian people, including doctors and other professionals. In partnership, volunteers from Haiti of the LIFT and residents of communities in Haiti carried out a variety of training programs and technical assistance. The community partners will coordinate the project site. The group is looking for volunteers and donations to build a solar-powered center for Internet access and use and learning satellite computer. The location is a rural mountain community that has no electrical grid and ninguÌ?? No public Internet access. The project will fundamentally change the community 'sa' access opportunities for information and learning. Volunteers are needed who have expertise in information technology, learning computer technology and satellite internet. Volunteers will help plan and set solar systems, satellite and and provide training on site. The contributor is a community group, the Nan Peyizan Kodinasyon mA (KPM). KPM, 600-member organization founded in 1981, will run the computer center within its headquarters building. Selected volunteers and for two other projects. In one project, students will teach a culinary school and their instructors to the techniques of food-safety for use in cooking for large numbers of people. In another project, students in high school learn to be first responders in public health problems, and a medical team will conduct a clinic for people in the community. Projects are designed to achieve specific goals expressed by the people of the community. The range of future projects include community health, sanitation, education, employment, environmental protection, infrastructure, transportation, disaster preparedness and sustainable economic development. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Haitians have low life expectancy, many chronic health issues, inadequate food production and severe environmental threats.
